Badgers land former SMU quarterback Tanner Mordecai from the transfer portal

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Luke Fickell has done it again.

The Badgers have landed former SMU quarterback Tanner Mordecai from the transfer portal.

Mordecai spent the last two seasons at SMU, where he threw for over 7,000 passing yards and 72 touchdowns for the Mustangs.

Prior to SMU, Mordecai spent three seasons at Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley. He was a backup to notable quarterbacks in Jalen Hurts and Kyler Murray.

The sixth-year quarterback joins a Badgers room consisting of Chase Wolf, Myles Burkett, Nick Evers and Cole LaCrue.
