CBS 58 MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The circus comes to Chicago. Big Ten Football Media Day. And in the mix? Wisconsin’s Luke Fickell tells CBS 58 Sports Insider Lance Allan he promises better.
"We know it ultimately comes down to how you perform and how you play on Saturdays," Badgers Head Coach Luke Fickell says. "But all that matters, and I mean that from the people that have come back and been around the program and seen and felt a different nature. And I mean that from the leadership, from the brotherhood, that it's in a much different place."
"Every year is obviously a different year," Wisconsin Outside Linebacker Sebastian Cheeks says. "You know what I mean? But you know, we really do believe that we’re playing for something this season, you know what I mean? And we gotta go out and take what’s ours."
In the final two home games last season, the Badgers beat two ranked opponents. But that’s not the point.
"The last two years for us have not been up to the standard. And I'm not shying away from that. We've gotta do a hell of a lot better job at doing. And I can promise you that we will," Fickell says.
"That’s what Wisconsin football is, it’s about having doubters on you," Badgers Wide Receiver Chris Brooks says. "And you go out there and you say, I don’t care. I’m gonna play as hard as I can. I’m gonna be as physical as I can."
And remember, the season actually starts in Green Bay, not Madison -- it's at Lambeau Field, against Notre Dame, Sunday, Sept. 6.
