MUSKEGO, Wis. (CBS 58) — In December 2025, Bass Bay Brewhouse, a Muskego staple, caught fire and burned down.

“It was a pain the whole community felt. It was devastating for the family, certainly, but I think the whole community felt that loss. It was a great loss,” Muskego resident and Bass Bay regular John Inzeo said.

The building, which had been around for years, was completely destroyed.

“I came here my whole life. My parents came here, my grandparents, so to see this place on fire was absolutely devastating,” Muskego resident Carey Sorensen said.

Over the summer, the owners converted the restaurant into an outdoor beer garden to keep the business going.

Fast-forward to October, and the owners are already breaking ground on a new restaurant exactly where the old one was located.

“It just gives me goosebumps. It’s just so incredible, and I’m so excited for everybody. I’m so excited for the community. I’m so excited for it to be open next year,” Sorensen said.

The new restaurant is expected to open sometime in the summer of 2027.

“When we moved to Muskego, Bass Bay became kind of that Cheers, where you kind of got to know everybody,” Inzeo said.

The beer garden will be open until Oct. 25.

“Once we got to talk to people in the aftermath and you saw this family, you knew this was gonna happen. It was gonna happen as quickly as they could make it happen, and they did it,” Inzeo said.
