SUSSEX, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Big Boy announced plans Wednesday, July 10, to close their Sussex restaurant as of Sunday, July 14.

According to owner Katie Johnson-Rizer, the kitchen space Big Boy currently occupies is needed to handle the volume of The GOAT next door, which she also owns.

Johnson-Rizer says Big Boy will reopen in Wisconsin Dells sometime this fall under new ownership.

A press release says in part, "We realize this will upset some people, however, our ultimate goal is to make The GOAT top-notch for the people of Sussex and beyond. We feel that making this decision is necessary to accomplish our goals."

The owner says the initial plan for the Big Boy space is to convert it into a mini arcade/fun zone for kids, and in the future, it will be converted into the "Book Club" - a private event area geared toward bridal/baby showers, book clubs and other small gatherings.
