Big Truck Day returns to Milwaukee with city vehicles and kid-friendly activities

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Big Truck Day is scheduled to return to Red Arrow Park on Saturday, May 17, featuring a range of city vehicles and public service equipment for children and families to explore.

The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is held ahead of National Public Works Week.

The Department of Public Works, Milwaukee Fire Department and Milwaukee Police Department will display vehicles including a fire engine, bomb squad unit and street sweeper. There will also be a front-end loader, grapple saw, mounted horse patrol units, a BearCat tactical vehicle, a mobile Survive Alive House unit, a bus and more.

A sensory-friendly hour with no sirens or horns will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Milwaukee Downtown BID #21, which organizes the event, says street closures around the park will accommodate expanded programming and exhibits. A rain date is set for Saturday, May 31.
