Blood Cancer United partners with Versiti for blood drive at ThriveOn King
Blood Cancer United MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Blood Cancer United staff and volunteers were among those who donated blood Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Versiti's ThriveOn King location in Milwaukee as part of a partnership between the two organizations.
The blood drive took place all day Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Blood donations are critical for cancer patients in treatment, many of whom require full transfusions or specific blood components, according to Blood Cancer United. The organization said donations tend to decline during winter months, making the drive especially timely.
Blood Cancer United said it chose the ThriveOn King location to highlight the community resource and give staff the chance to see Versiti's work firsthand.
Several team members donated blood for the first time, and to help tip potential donors over the edge to get out and donate, a free Milwaukee Admirals ticket was given to every donor.
