WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A unique event in West Allis is helping visually impaired students gain confidence in their everyday lives. 

Braille Games is a day of fun, skills-based tests that teaches students valuable lessons that often translate into real-world scenarios. 

The games consisted of four challenges that focused on either reading or writing braille. 

One organizer says she uses braille every day and thinks learning it at a young age helps build a successful future. 

"All of our games- and there are four of them- are focused on using braille, either reading braille or writing braille, which is an essential tool for success in life, from being in school throughout the whole lifespan," said Cheryl Orgas, executive director of Audio and Braille Literacy Enhancement (ABLE). 

This is the 24th year Braille Games has helped inspire visually impaired students across our hometowns.
