MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - American Family Field was packed with fans on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4, for game one of the National League Division Series (NLDS).
“The playoff atmosphere is awesome, the fans are loud, everybody’s excited, any Brewers play that happens the crowd is into it,” Brewers fan Tim Petropoulos said. “It’s just an awesome experience to go to a playoff game.”
The Cubs came out swinging, taking an early lead with a leadoff home run before the Brewers answered back with nine runs in the first two innings.
“I was surrounded by Cubs fans so when they got that leadoff homer, I was very nervous,” Petropoulos said. “Then the Brewers scored all those runs, and the Cubs fans were very quiet after that.”
One of the Cubs fans who was at the game on Saturday was Steve Lueje, who made the drive up from Illinois.
“Those were the longest two innings of my life,” Lueje said. “It’s a long series, it’s five games, we’re good, there’s still a lot left in this series.”
Lifelong Brewers fan Bill Uren was at the game on Saturday and has seen a lot of playoff losses since the Brewers got to Milwaukee in 1970, but he’s feeling great about the start to this year’s playoff run.
“I feel very optimistic and I think we will win it in 4,” Uren said. “We’ve got such a young team, we don’t have to hit home runs all the time and they just play their hearts out and I really think we can do it.”
