Woodruff missed much of the first half of the season with shoulder inflammation before returning in early August. From there, he racked up a 5-1 record with a 2.28 ERA in 11 starts.
The injury to the Brewers star right-hander is a blow to a starting rotation many experts believed could help the Brewers make a deep playoff run.
