Brewers fans welcome Cubs to Milwaukee for first time in 2026

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - The Chicago Cubs are in Milwaukee this weekend for a series showdown with the Brewers.

Jacob Misiorowski is on the mound for the Brewers to kick off the series.

“Friday kind of sets the tone,” brewers fan Robert Lobajeski said. “He’s already doing well for himself now, but you want to talk about the Cubs, it’s a tall order today, I hope he does well, kind of keep these Cubs quiet for the weekend.”

Marty Kaplan grew up in Chicago and lives in Milwaukee, where he has become a Brewers fan over the last eight years.

“They are a great team, Murph, the team, every one of them, I am just stoked watching every game this year,” Kaplan said.

Kaplan brought up his brother from Chicago for the series opener, who does not agree with the switch of heart.

“I love him, he's my brother but it's been eight years, what are you gonna do,” Lou Kaplan said. “He roots for the Packers, he roots for the Brewers, he roots for the Bucks, it’s hard.”

Cubs fan Peter Gallagher was at the game on Friday night and has some feelings about the Brewers.

"You keep trying to cut the head off of them, you hire away Counsell, the Mets hire away the GM, and it never seems to work,” Gallagher said.
