Brewers game serves as launching point for America's Semiquincentennial celebration preparation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The United States Semiquincentennial Commission, known as America250, has launched "America's Invitation," a nationwide campaign, at American Family Field.

This initiative, which commenced prior to the Tuesday, July 4 game between the Brewers and the Chicago Cubs, marks the beginning of a three-year countdown to the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, according to a Tuesday press release.

Pre-game activities at American Family Field featured a press conference with key partners, including Nextdoor and YWCA USA. Also, the launch video of "America’s Invitation" was debuted.

As part of the festivities, four Wisconsinites are set to throw the ceremonial first pitches ahead of the game's 3:10 p.m. start.

The organization also prepared a booth for fans to get the opportunity to record videos that tell their own American stories, with their campaign encouraging all Americans to share personal narratives about their communities and cultures.

Rick Schlesinger, Brewers President - Business Operations, said in a press release, "As we gear up for this historic commemoration, we look forward to bringing together fans and families at American Family Field to begin the celebration with us."

In the coming three years, America250 plans to host commemorative events across all states and territories, and they are inviting Americans to share their unique stories about local communities, hopes, dreams for the future, artwork, essays, songs and more.
