Brewers, Salvation Army team up to prepare 600 meals for Milwaukee County kids
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Brewers and Salvation Army have teamed up to help make sure Milwaukee students don't go hungry during the summer months.
Monday, front office staff and volunteers prepared 600 lunches for kids across our hometowns as part of the annual Feed the Kids program.
Over the next eight weeks, meals will be distributed to six locations in Milwaukee County.
We talked to one member of the Salvation Army who thinks the partnership helps create a healthier city.
"Many of our kids, when the school's out, don't have the meals to be able-they don't get breakfast. At school, you know, they get lunch at school. It's a way to really care for our children, to let them know that they are valued, cared for and supported," said Major Beverly Gates, Milwaukee area commander, Salvation Army.
The Feed the Kids program started back in 1990 and has helped serve over two million kids in Milwaukee County.
