Brewers trade minor league SS to Pirates for Carlos Santana

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Brewers have made a trade -- acquiring Pirates first baseman Carlos Santana in exchange for minor league shortstop Jhonny Severino.

According to sources, Severino was one of two big international signings in 2022.

The Brewers bring in the 37-year-old slugger, who was hitting .235 with a .732 OPS, 12 home runs and 15 RBIs.

Santana has played in the postseason five times throughout his career -- including a World Series appearance on the 2016 Cleveland Indians.

The 18-year-old spent two seasons in the Brewers farm before being traded to Pittsburgh.
