Brewers working with WisDOT on game day traffic plans amid I-94 reconstruction project
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Starting on Monday night, more lane closures will be coming to I-94 as a part of the WisDOT reconstruction project, set to last nearly a decade.
The Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials have confirmed with CBS 58 they're discussing a plan for ingress and egress on game days.
With Opening Day a little over two weeks away, local bars are deciding how their shuttles will run with more traffic from closures.
“Opening Day is going to be ridiculous,” Brewski’s General Manager Marty Schwader said. “I mean, we’ll probably have anywhere from 500 to 1,000 people through here.”
Brewski’s is around two miles west of American Family Field and will be running all three of their shuttles on game days to start the season.
“A couple of (drivers) have raised concerns about how quickly we’re gonna be able to get in and out,” Schwader said.
Schwader says there is a plan if normal routes to the stadium get rerouted, but that it’s not the first option.
“There’s a couple different routes that we have that we can get in,” Schwader said. “The neighbors don’t really like it too much, but we try to really limit those times that we go through there.”
No matter how bad the traffic gets, there is baseball to be played.
“Depending on how many people are here, we just keep going and going,” Schwader said.
