MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An annual celebration in one of Milwaukee's traditional African-American neighborhoods kicks off this weekend.
Bronzeville Week starts Saturday, August 3 and runs through August 10.
It starts with the HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run on Saturday and the Bronzeville Cultural & Arts Festival on Sunday.
It features vendors, food, three stages of live entertainment, and a kid's zone.
The festival will be held on North Avenue between MLK Junior Drive and 7th Street. Officials say the event is about continuing the growth of the near north side neighborhood.
"What we are trying to build and trying to uphold is a Bronzeville that we can be proud of for generations to come. So, 20 years from now, when my children, your children, look back at Bronzeville it is something that is long-lasting and something they can be proud of," said Ald. Milele Coggs - 6th District.
2019 is the seventh year for Bronzeville Week.
