MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee high school is now the proud owner of a brand new medical training lab.
Monday was the grand opening of the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin Learning Center at Carmen High School.
Thanks to a partnership between the Bucks, MCW, and Froedtert, the high school now has a hands on training lab.
The lab includes eight hospital beds, mannequins, and nursing station components that were all donated by Froedtert. The lab replaces an unused and outdated machine shop classroom.
Plans for the renovated room were announced in July 2016 and the lab is now ready for the new school year.
One nursing student says she can’t wait to practice in the new classroom.
"This room when I first saw it, my first impression was like just breathtaking. I was like wow. I walk past it every day and it was just dark in here and then I come in and it's so light and just everything that I was around hospital beds, mannequins everything. I think it's going to be a great use this school year,” says Carmen High School senior Davie Delgado.
The first day of school at Carmen is on Tuesday, so the lab will be put to use very soon.
