CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Bucks Media Day, it's noticeable Giannis is not here for the first time in 13 years. But it's less about the subtraction and more about the addition of new Head Coach Taylor Jenkins and the statement Bucks Co-owner Wes Edens makes about him.
"I think he may be the biggest addition in the NBA offseason, as far as I'm concerned," Edens says. "He was the guy that we wanted. We signed him to a long-term contract."
"I'm not one to talk about splashes and all that," Jenkins says. "But I do know the responsibility coming in here. And it was a thoughtful process both ways, going through the interview process, about why we wanted to make this partnership work."
"You know I love Coach Jenkins. You know, he's fiery. He has an edge to him," Bucks Guard Gary Trent Jr. says.
The Bucks were 32-50 last season. But they insist this isn't a heavy lift.
"There's going to be growing pains," Bucks Guard Tyler Herro says. "Ups and downs. And I think it's easy right now, in September, to say that we're going to hold each other accountable. We're gonna do this together. Compete together, all that. I think as the season gets harder, I think as we start to lose games, you know, everyone loses games -- as you lose games, how do you stay together? How do we continue to do this thing as a group? And I think that's one thing that we can't bend or break on."
The slogan this season? Compete together. No tangible numbers. Just building blocks for the future.
