KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There are thousands of diners in the U.S. Many of them were even built around the same time as Frank's in Kenosha, but none have managed to stay open as long.

"We've never not had an owner and operator," said current owner Kevin Ervin.

Frank's has been continuously serving breakfast for nearly a century, longer than any other diner open today. Ervin and his wife Julie are only the second family outside of the original Frank family to own the diner.

"We started just coming here as regulars," said Ervin.

The whole building was made to fit on the train car that brought it to Kenosha from New Jersey in 1926.

"It was never a rail car, it never served as a dining car on a train; that's just how they built them," said Ervin.

Today, people come to see more than just the decor.

"Very few people can finish the full garbage plate even if they try," said Ervin.

If you can't finish the five eggs, hashbrowns, meats, veggies and toast, then you can always take a "failure trophy" with you, also known as a to-go box.

The diner is open seven days a week.
