CBS 58 Endzone: High School Football Week 2
SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN (CBS 58) – Rivalry games tend to be close. Last year’s matchup between the Pewaukee Pirates and IKE Lions decided by just two points.
A different story Friday as the visiting Lions tore through the Pewaukee defense early and often.
The Pewaukee Pirates stormed onto the field for their week two matchup but it was the Eisenhower Lions who struck first.
Moments later Pewaukee would cough it up, a theme throughout the game. The Lions would go on to a 38-14 victory.
“We have a lot of respect for Pewaukee. They’ve given us a lot of tough games over the years here, some tough losses, so I mean no, the score we weren’t expecting, but I’m just excited about how we ran the ball,” says Eisenhower head coach Matt Kern.
Early leads are nothing new for the team. Last week, the Lions nearly blew a 28 point advantage, holding on to a win by just a single point. There were no such problems in the game against Pewaukee.
“Our kids are definitely focused. I mean we had a really tough second half last week, got kind of scared and survived that game and I think we got some momentum from that that carried into tonight,” says Kern.
A great game out in Kenosha as the Red Devils host the Badgers out of Lake Geneva. Kenosha Bradford with the win 26-21.
A battle in Waukesha as Waukesha West dismisses South Waukesha 56-7.
Defending state champs Brookfield East goes looking for 2 and 0 and they host Marquette on Friday. Brookfield East wins 27-24 against Marquette.
