GENESEE DEPOT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The 58 Hometowns tour is headed to Waukesha County to showcase the community of Genesee Depot, located in the Town of Genesee.

Apart from being a site with history that goes back well into the mid-1800s, there are still modern establishments that offer a taste of the history that have kept Genesee Depot alive. From a family-owned store offering local general store goods, fresh coffee and more, to a fine dining restaurant with a history dating back to the 1860s.

There is also a taste of local artisan wares and antiques at a 3,000 square-foot shop adjacent to the rail tracks that are still operational.

This week, Ten Chimneys will also be featured, arguably the shining feature in the cap of Genesee Depot's story, offering a full tour of one of a home of Broadway royalty and history.

See full reports from Mike Strehlow during CBS 58 news at 4:55, 9 and 10 on Tuesday, Oct. 17 and Thursday, Oct. 18! There will be even more all week on social media and here at CBS58.com.

Michael Schlesinger is performing a deeper dive into Mercantile & Bean, one of the businesses that will be featured Tuesday night. The location, at the intersection of Highways 59 and 83 in the town of Genesee, happens to be a coffee shop with all homemade baked goods.

The owners say everything about it is local from the ingredients in the baked products themselves to the crafts you might want to buy for your home or maybe a holiday gift.
