CBS 58's Hometown Athlete: Waukesha's Chimere Dike credits training at home for NFL rookie record
WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Every offseason, Chimere Dike returns to NX Level and trains with Brad Arnett, not far from where he grew up in Waukesha.
"He pushes us," Chimere Dike says. "He makes us do hard stuff. I think you saw the plate pushes at the end. You know, just the whole entire workout is a grind."
Dike also pushed by four-time All-Pro and 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt.
"You know, I looked up to T.J., and really the Watt brothers, you know, my whole life," Dike says. "Being a kid from this area, I wanted to be at the level they're at and obviously I still got a long way to go to get there, but to have role models like that, to push you, even work out and seeing the level that he works out, you know, the guy's got a gold jacket already and he's wanting to do extra work after."
Apparently, it's paid off. After, the former Badgers and Waukesha North returner and receiver broke Tim Brown’s NFL rookie record for all-purpose yards.
CBS 58 Sports Director Lance Allan asks: "You're an All-Pro, you're a Pro Bowler, you set an NFL rookie record. How can you get better?"
"Every single day," Dike says. "It's a process, right? I'm not really looking at the accolades of what you can do, but how good can I be? How much can I help our team win football games? And at the end of the day, you know, I'm an unfinished product. I got a lot of room I can grow into, and you know, I'm excited to continue to play and keep pushing."
