CBS 58's Mike Strehlow stepping away from anchor desk

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After more than four decades in television news, veteran news anchor Mike Strehlow has announced his plan to “semi-retire” from CBS 58.

Mike will step down from his role as anchor of the "CBS 58 News at Noon" and the "CBS 58 News at 4" at the end of this summer. His focus will turn solely to anchoring "CBS 58 Sunday Morning" each week.

"With September marking the start of my 44th year in television news, I look forward to transitioning to a phased retirement where purpose meets leisure," said Strehlow. “This new role will offer me the best of both worlds; continued meaningful work with my CBS 58 family and added quality time with my own family.”

“Mike is truly one of the nicest and most generous people you could know. His daily presence in the station will be missed”, said Anne Brown, VP and General Manager of CBS 58. “This is the best possible transition. Mike gets more time with his family, and we still have him as part of our Sunday mornings.”

Mike has been with CBS 58 since day one. He anchored the station’s very first newscast in March of 1996. A lifelong resident of Wisconsin, Mike graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and has worked in multiple markets across the state. In 2014, Mike was inducted into the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences “Silver Circle,” which honors outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to their local television market for 25 years or more.
