SUSSEX, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There's something to be said for Sussex Hamilton High School girls golf.

"The culture of the program. That's something that we've really worked on growing the past four years that I've been here," Mia Reischel says.

The Chargers certainly became a close team this year.

"I love these girls. Like these are like my closest friends. And I think that just having confidence in each other and having such a tight bond? Really creates a team chemistry," Kendall Zambon says.

But what's more impressive than their on-course scores? Their 4.3 team GPA.

"Just putting in the time. Quizzing each other. We're in similar classes. So we can help each other with that," Katelyn Hupfer says.

"We spend a lot time on the course. But we spend a lot of time in the classroom as well and studying. And yeah, I mean we all focus a lot on academics," Reischel says.

"We put lots of work into our studies. I mean after practice, we're studying. Up late. And we're all kind of exhausted always," Zambon says.

But it will pay off.
