MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Friday afternoon, Milwaukee leaders gathered at City Hall to address sexual assault awareness.
Next Wednesday, April 24, is Denim Day.
It's a call to action to reduce sexual violence and end victim blaming.
A press conference was held ahead of Denim Day as a sign of support for survivors of sexual assault and violence.
"Sexual assault is a crime that has a lot of stigma to it," said Dawn Helmrich, founder of Denim Day Milwaukee. " I think it's really important that we share with people how important it is to believe survivors. If you are a survivor, you're not alone, there are people that believe you, your story is your story."
