City of Milwaukee could start demolition of Northridge Mall by late January

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee could take control of Northridge Mall by the end of the month and begin demolition.

The property is under a raze order. The city could take over the mall by Jan. 25 by tax foreclosure.

A unanimous vote by the city's Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee Tuesday moved forward the plan to use $15 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds sent by the state for demolition.

If the foreclosure is finalized without an appeal by the current owners, a Chinese development company, crews could begin tearing parts down at the end of this month.

The mall could be torn down completely by this fall.
