Complaint: Milwaukee man charged, accused of fatally shooting 60-year-old wife

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is facing a homicide charge after allegedly shooting and killing his wife.

Fifty-nine-year-old Timothy Lewis is being charged with first degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.

According to the criminal complaint, police arrived to a report of a shooting near Cass and Wells Saturday, May 25.

Police say after arriving, they found an unconscious woman, later identified as 60-year-old Jacqueline Beason, slumped in the passenger side of a vehicle. The complaint states that she had a single gunshot wound to the head. Beason was pronounced dead, despite lifesaving measures.

Per the complaint, Beason's daughter told investigators she was on the phone with her mother before she was shot and killed. She said she could hear her mother arguing with Lewis, her mother's husband. The daughter said she could hear her mother say Lewis has been disrespectful to her and her daughters.

The complaint states Beason's daughter heard her mother say, "put the gun away." The daughter yelled and said, "he has a gun?" and Beason replied, "it's fake," according to the complaint. The daughter said she then heard Lewis say, "there you go," and Beason's phone went silent. She said she did not hear any gunshots, per the complaint.

Investigators spoke with a witness who stated that as she was parking her car near Cass Street, she saw a man in a vehicle parked across the street from her. The witness said she could see the man was leaning into the vehicle, and that he was pointing a handgun at the woman who was sitting in the driver's seat.

The witness told investigators she could hear the woman in the vehicle tell the man that she had recordings about how he treats her. The complaint says the witness also heard the woman tell the man to get away from her car. The witness said she heard the man say, "okay," and then she heard one gunshot. The complaint says the witness told police she saw the man get into a different vehicle and drive away. She then walked over to the vehicle, saw the female was slumped over and called 911.

Police say they located and stopped the vehicle being driven by Lewis. When he got out of the vehicle, Lewis reported he had a handgun, according to the complaint, which officers located.

During the arrest, Lewis said that he was going to jail for a long time, according to the complaint, and that he knew the police were looking for him.

On Sunday, May 26, police interviewed Lewis.

Lewis said that his wife, Beason, was accusing him of "messing with her kids," according to investigators, and that he was trying to talk her down.

Lewis said his wife and daughter were yelling at him, and he got tired and took out his gun. He said he "just lost it right there." Prosecutors say Lewis admitted he is the one who did it, and no one else was involved.

Court records show an initial court appearance was scheduled for May 29.
