MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's a case of when being a good Samaritan goes terribly wrong. A news manager at our competitor station, WISN, was not only carjacked but seriously hurt all while trying to help a stranger get back home.

Surveillance video from a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus captured the incident that happened on Aug. 12.

Milwaukee police say a man walked up to the WISN employee a little after 11 p.m. and asked for a ride. The WISN employee said yes.

As they were in the car, police said the man asked to be dropped off at a friend's house on Appleton Avenue. When they arrived, things took a scary and almost deadly turn.

"When they both arrived at the address, the subject displayed a serrated butcher knife and proceeded to slice the victim's throat causing a lacerated trachea and told her that he just wanted her car and that she wasn't going to die," said Detective Tony Castro, Milwaukee Police Department. "While all of this is happening, they're fighting, she's trying to fight him off believing that she's actually bleeding -- and she didn't want to die -- so she began tussling with him, fighting with him, fighting for the knife eventually being let out of the car."

When the WISN employee got out of the car, he drove off with it.

While bleeding and screaming, a neighbor came out to help and called police. The victim survived.

Detectives say the suspect is a white man in his early 20s. He's about 5'8" with a slim build, weighing approximately 160-170 lbs. His hair is light brown or reddish and shaggy. Police say the suspect has freckles and might go by the name Aaron. He may also hang around the area of 107th and Appleton.

If you know who the suspect in this case is, police say he is dangerous, and they need your anonymous tips to catch him. Call Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-8477. You can also use the P3 Tips App. Both are anonymous. If your tip leads to an arrest, you get cash.
