Damian Lillard 'excited' for Bucks vs. Trailblazers game in Portland
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For 11 seasons, Damian Lillard played basketball for the Portland Trailblazers, building a reputation as an NBA superstar before the blockbuster trade that brought him to the Milwaukee Bucks. Wednesday night, Jan. 31, Lillard plays with the Bucks in Portland for the first time.
"I'm excited. I think it's, for me it's more about just going back home than it is about the game itself," said Lillard.
Obviously, Lillard wants to win the game with his new team, but his family is still in Portland. He has a lot of friends and former coworkers in Portland, and he's looking forward to seeing them again.
In an interview with ESPN, Lillard said he's not nervous, but at the same time this won't be just another game for him.
"I think the one thing that'll be new is probably the emotions that come with it. It'll be my first time in the arena as an opponent or as a visitor. Y'know I'm sure the fans will be excited to see me and it'll be a welcome home party," Lillard said.
The Bucks and Trailblazers play at 9 p.m. Milwaukee time.
