Death of former Rufus King, Badgers football player ruled natural

Family of Nate White

SOUTH DAKOTA (CBS 58) -- The City of Brookings Police Department has concluded an investigation into the death of Milwaukee-born college football player Nate White.

He died unexpectedly about three weeks ago in his college dorm room at 20 years old.

Police say White died from a "medical event that disrupted his breathing and heart functions."

They say his death is being ruled a natural, sudden death.

White graduated from Rufus King in 2023 and spent two years on the UW-Madison football team before transferring to South Dakota State at the beginning of this year.

A vigil was held at Rufus King High School earlier this month in his memory.
