DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Delafield Police Chief Erik Kehl signed off for the final time Monday afternoon as he retired from law enforcement.
Chief Kehl served the Delafield Police Department for 25 years, nine of them as chief.
The police department was decorated with handmade cards from local kids, all wishing the chief well on his new adventure.
"I really just wanted- when I became a cop and decided I was going to stay a cop- I just wanted to make a difference if I could, and the last couple weeks with the schools and everybody else, it's like 'oh, maybe I did that,'" Chief Kehl said.
Chief Kehl will still be able to make a difference.
He's accepted a part-time teaching position at University Lake School and will start there in April.
