MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Delegates are starting to file in ahead of tonight's session, which has given plenty of time to check out Milwaukee.
Convention goers are discovering there is a lot more to Milwaukee than cheese, brats and beer. "When in Rome," as they say. Which is why the Washington state delegation decided to try out one of the city's most popular craft breweries.
They enjoyed lunch and took a tour of the Lakefront Brewery on Wednesday, July 17. The stop included a full buffet, a chance to sample some of the 18 beers on tap, local wine, and homemade root beer.
Each delegate also received a lakefront souvenir pint glass. Lakefront's front of house manager told CBS 58 that they are happy to show off Milwaukee to the world and give delegates a taste of Milwaukee hospitality.
"Lakefront is a great place to represent the city. We make great beer and great food and it's nice to be represented," said Sam Szumborski, front of house manager.
Lakefront tells us while business was slower than usual on Sunday and Monday, convention events like this one and other scheduled events are definitely good for business.
