MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Memorial Day, unofficially heralding the beginning of summer, has inspired Wisconsinites to start planning vacations.
Helping folks shape these travel plans, Anne Sayers, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, joined us on Thursday, June 8.
Sayers highlighted upcoming events and trends. Among the celebrations is Harley Davidson's 120th anniversary, a four-day festivity taking place across Milwaukee. Plover will also be welcoming visitors to its newly opened Food and Farm Exploration Center, boasting the world's largest potato masher.
For golf fans, the U.S. Senior Open will be hosted in Steven's Point later in the summer, offering an affordable opportunity to see the game's legends up close.
Astro-tourism, Sayers noted, is a trend picking up speed, with Newport State Park in Door County and the Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay offering prime locations for stargazing. She also talked about the rise of agritourism and the importance of exploring Wisconsin's agricultural heritage.
