MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Organizers of the 2020 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention showed off preparations Friday, for one of the biggest events the city has hosted -- a delegate welcome party at the Summerfest grounds ahead of the convention.
"This is the first impression that they will have of our community, and what better place to have a first impression than at the Summerfest grounds," said Mayor Tom Barrett.
The event will take place on July 12, the night before the four-day event opens at Fiserv Forum, and a week after the end of Summerfest.
Several thousand delegates are expected to attend the party.
