‘Do not get rid of him’: Bucks fans call for Giannis not to be traded night before NBA Trade Deadline
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Despite not being in action on Wednesday night, Feb. 4, all eyes were on Giannis Antetokounmpo as the NBA trade deadline looms.
For months, trade rumors have been swirling in the sports world about a potential Giannis trade.
Mike Santulli works at Major Goolsby’s down the street from Fiserv Forum and has been cheering on the Bucks since he moved to Milwaukee in the 1960’s.
“To me it is a commandment you do not get rid of superstars,” Santulli said. “I don’t give a darn what you get for them, you do not get rid of him.”
Santulli believes that the Bucks need to hold on to Giannis, because of how hard superstars are to come by.
“My idea is when you get a superstar you keep them because the last one we had was Kareem Abdul Jabar, and just how long do you want to wait for the next one,” Santulli said.
Bucks fan Paul Mueller doesn’t want to see Giannis go but hopes that the Bucks get plenty of draft picks in return if a deal goes down.
“It shouldn’t be player focus, it should be picks and we should focus on what’s going to happen in three, four, five years from now and not this season,” Mueller said.
Santulli is not putting any thought to the idea of his team getting draft picks in return.
“Keep him, period, it’s just not an argument as far as I’m concerned,” Santulli said. “Seven to nine first round draft picks, what are we dreaming, are we gonna live that long?”
