Dodge County Sheriff's Office investigating after home found riddled with bullets

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a home was riddled with bullets on New Year's Day.

The Sheriff's Office was called out to the home on County road W near Hemlock Road in Trenton around 2 a.m. on January 1.

Upon arrival, they discovered that the front window of the home, a shed, and a pickup truck were all riddled with bulllets.

At 2:47 a.m., there was an additional report of shots being fired several miles north on Buckhorn Road near County Road C. The area was checked and nothing was found.

At this time, the Sheriff's Office is unsure of who fired the shots or if the two incidents are related.

No one was injured as a result of these incidents.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind people that "when shooting firearms, it is important to always know your target and beyond as the person who fires the shots is ultimately responsible for where those rounds go. This could very easily have turned into tragedy had those rounds struck someone inside the home."
