WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A loyal dog is now looking for a new home. The dog stayed by his elderly owners side for three days after he died, before the body was found.

The dog's foster mom is looking for a happy ending to a very sad story.

After his owner died, Robbie ended up at 'CARE' in Waukesha. His foster mom describes his story as sad, but inspiring.

Robbie is a dog that will simply brighten your day. Robbie's life, however, isn't all smiles. The 14-year-old Scottish Terrier lost his owner back in May.

The 93-year-old man died from heart disease and heat exhaustion in the garden of his rural Columbia County home, just north of Madison.

Robbie stood by his owner's side for three days until the body was found.

"I was like are you kidding me? This dog was out there for three days, no water, no food," said Susan Jacoby, Robbie's foster mom.

Foster mom, Susan Jacoby, is taking care of Robbie until he finds a forever home. The dog's devotion to his previous owner did not go without suffering. When he was found, he was full of ticks and dehydrated.

"When he was found he had two areas of sunburn of open raw skin," said Jacoby.

Robbie's wounds have since healed.

"He's a very loyal dog. He's a survivor and he's just going to keep going. He's a fighter," said Jacoby.

Robbie has some trouble walking and getting up. Jacoby hopes to find a new owner to fill this tiny dog's big heart.

"He's going to be a great dog for someone looking for a low key, low energy, no energy and very very loyal, loyal to a T, loyal to the end," said Jacoby.
