Dream Flights take veterans high above Waukesha County

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Eight veterans living in Capri Senior Living Communities were recently invited to fly over Waukesha County in a fully restored World War II vintage airplane, a PT-17 Stearman.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to all the veterans," Capri CEO Jim Tarantino said.

The flights are offered through the non-profit, Dream Flights Foundation, and sponsored by Direct Supply.

"I didn't know what to expect when I got here, but it turned out to be better than I thought," Korean War Veteran John Champagne said.

Each veteran took a 15 to 20 minute flight with pilot Jeff Klosky.

"It was wonderful. I enjoyed every bit of it," Joyelyn Cassidy, a clerk during the Korean War, said.

Klosky said the flights are just as much a treat for him as they are for the veterans.

"You just kind of float on clouds for a really long time with it," Klosky said.

This is the seventh year Capri has offered Dream Flights to its residents, and Tarantino said they plan to continue the tradition for many years to come.
