Election Attorney Mike Maistelman answers back to Donald Trump's Claims of Election Rigging
Local attorney Mike Maistelman is answering back to Presidential nominee Donald Trump's claims that the election is rigged.
Maistelman has been a monitor for election recounts at the local, state and national level.
"Never before has a candidate called an election before it's happened," Maistelman said during a live interview on the CBS 58 News at 4. "Accusing everybody that there's going to be fraud. Donald Trump is setting up a narrative for what the polls are showing is a potential loss".
Maistelman takes issue with questioning the legitimacy of the process without evidence.
"To challenge it as if governors and clerks are rigging, the confidence in the democratic process is what he's challenging. That's problematic. I would ask him to put forth evidence. He's making these statements and he comes forward with nothing."
Maistelman points to several governors and election attorneys across the country who have come out to refute Trump's claims.
"Even Mike Pence (Trump's running mate) is saying the system is sound," added Maistelman. "You might have an occasional snafu. Of course there's going to be a lot of tension at the polls on both sides and that's what happens when you call into question the democratic process."
Maistelman's advice for any voter on election day is to make a note of anything they think is unusual and report it to the chief poll worker.
"Dont try to accuse or intimidate"
