MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers' office announced $36 million in funding for state projects that were previously rejected by the Republican-controlled legislature.
The funds, coming from the American Rescue Plan act will go to five projects, two of which are in Milwaukee.
A total of $9.3 million will go to the Milwaukee Iron District's new soccer stadium.
A professional soccer team is in the works right now, with plans for a stadium to open in 2025 at 10th and Michigan.
Five-million dollars will go toward the Bronzeville Center for the Arts being built on the site of the former Wisconsin DNR building on Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Drive.
The center will highlight the Black history and culture in both Milwaukee and the state.
