MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Tuesday, David Crowley was re-elected as Milwaukee County executive and will serve his second full term.

We sat down with him Friday, to talk about his vision for Milwaukee County moving forward.

"Well, the first priority I have to get out of the way right now is to say thank you to the Milwaukee County voters for believing in me and giving me another term," Crowley said. "But I will say as we begin to move forward, we want to make sure that we can continue to invest in Milwaukee County. While we've had some great wins within these past four years, particularly with Act 12 and the sales tax, we know that our budgets are going to see some deficits in the next coming year. So, it is my job to make sure that we can continue to collaborate, as well as partner with our state and federal partners to make sure that we can be able to bring more resources back home. And we want to be able to take and tackle many different issues, whether we're talking about health, whether we're talking about our transit, our parks, or our public safety system. But my job is to make sure we can move this community forward."

With the RNC coming to Milwaukee this summer, and the opportunity to showcase the city and surrounding communities, we asked County Executive Crowley how he's preparing.

"First and foremost," he said, "I think this is a great opportunity, as you pointed out, for many of the businesses right here within Milwaukee County. We had the DNC come here just four years ago, but that was upended because of the pandemic. So, this actually gives us almost another kick at the can if you will. But particularly now, because we know who the nominee is going to be for the Republican Party, that there could be a little bit of contention there, and so it is our job to continue to work with law enforcement, FBI, CIA, and all the players to make sure that this convention goes off without a hitch. That we make all of the delegates safe, and that we continue to provide the services for everybody who lives here in Milwaukee County."

We also asked Executive Crowley about any future plans to run for higher office.

"You know I get that question a lot now," he said. "But I will tell you that right now, after winning my election, I'm really focused on the next four years being the Milwaukee County executive. And so, as we continue to think about all the great things that we did in this prior term, I just want to keep that momentum going.

"If Governor Evers decides not to run for a third term in a couple years, is that something you'd consider?" CBS 58's Mike Strehlow asked.

"It is something that I would consider," said Crowley. "But at the end of the day right now, Governor Evers has been an incredible partner for Milwaukee County and so as long as he's our governor, I have his back."
