Fallen first responders and their families honored at Western Lakes Golf Club tournament
PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- At Western Lakes Golf Club Wednesday morning, a golf tournament was held in recognition of first responders in our community, as well as the families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
More than 150 first responders were there, and in addition to the golfing, people on the course got a visit from the Milwaukee Bucks' very own Bango.
Though the day was filled with fun, people also used it as a moment to reflect and remember the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
"I wanna pay respect and show honor to all the families. I wanna show and say thank you to ServPro for hosting this. But most of all, the children. I wanna say, you know what? You children are heroes and I wanna say thank you for doing what you do, and they deserve the best," said Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson.
An especially heartwarming moment of the day featured the child of a fallen first responder receiving the First Responders Children's Foundation Scholarship- continuing the organization's goal of supporting these families through thick and thin.
