Family of Slender Man stabbing victim sends letter to judge ahead of sentencing

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The mother of a young girl, nearly killed by her two friends is sharing more information about how it's impacted their lives.

Payton Leutner was stabbed 19 times by her classmates three years ago in a Waukesha Park. The two girls told authorities they were trying to please the fictional character known as Slender Man.

Payton's mother Stacie says the family did not object to the plea deals for Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier.

Stacie sent a letter to the judge who will hand down a sentence to her daughter's attackers.

It reads in part,

"Payton has a lifetime of healing ahead of her and she deserves to be allowed to heal in an environment where she feels safe. I know she will not feel safe if either Morgan or Anissa are released back into the community unsupervised."

Weier is set to be sentenced Thursday, December 21. Geyser is expected to be sentenced in February 2018.
