Fire crews say once they learned there could be children trapped on the second floor they made an aggressive push inside the home to find them.
Unfortunately, when firefighters got to the second floor, they found the 12-year-old boy.
"They were encountering extreme heat at the top of those stairs. They pushed forward anyway, they were able to locate one victim, that victim has been determined to be deceased as a result of the fire injuries," said Milwaukee Fire Department Deputy Chief Aaron Lipski.
No one else was hurt in the fire. Milwaukee Police are investigating the cause.
