Fire damages Milwaukee home, Red Cross assists 5 displaced residents

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A residential fire near 31st and State early Friday damaged a two-and-a-half-story home, with no reported injuries, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

The fire occurred Friday, Oct. 25, at approximately 2:37 a.m. in the attic of the residence.

An MFD official told CBS 58 that all occupants exited the structure before firefighters arrived. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist five individuals who live in the building.

Firefighters dispatched a single alarm, a full assignment, and laid lines into the structure to extinguish the fire. They simultaneously conducted searches and controlled the electrical and gas utilities. The fire was brought under control by 3:08 a.m.

The Milwaukee Police Department and the Fire Investigative Unit are working to determine the cause of the fire.
