First Stage in Milwaukee to show Disney & Pixar's 'Finding Nemo'
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- First Stage is making a splash with its latest production. Disney and Pixar's "Finding Nemo" will come to the Marcus Center March 8th for nearly a month of shows. The theater group is made up of both kids and adults.
Eleven-year-old Lainey Techtmann plays Nemo. She is having fun diving into Nemo's personality and mannerisms for her performance.
"I like exploring Nemo. I've watched the movie a few times since I've started this show. I've, kind of, looked and seen Nemo's characteristics and I try to add in characteristics that are similar to it," said Techtmann. "Nemo's growing up, Nemo wants to do things on his own -- which I think a lot of kids can relate to."
Puppeteering is about more than just using your hands. Techtmann says she has to use her whole body and face to portray the fish.
"You have to be able to make sure your knees are bent so you can move around," she said. "You also want to keep the puppet at a good height so the audience can see your face and the puppet, so you can give the idea that the puppet and human are one."
The show is great for families with children ages five through 12. Tickets are now on sale to see the show at the Todd Wehr Theater Marcus Performing Arts Center.
