Fond du Lac man facing terrorism charge after allegedly threatening to 'shoot up a school'
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Fond du Lac man is facing a felony terrorism charge after allegedly threatening to buy an assault rifle and "shoot up a school."
The charges against Darrell Scott stem from an OWI incident on April 3, according to the district attorney's office.
Scott allegedly "made repeated statements that once released from custody he would buy an assault rifle to shoot up a school, saying he thinks about it daily."
“Anyone that threatens to commit a school shooting and threaten the lives of students and educators will be aggressively prosecuted in our community," said District Attorney Eric Toney. "Parents must have confidence that when they send their children to school that they will come home safely and teachers must feel safe while educating children in our community."
Scott faces one felony charge of making terrorist threats. He also faces misdemeanor charges of OWI-3rd offense and possession of THC.
Cash bond was set at $1 million during an initial appearance.
