MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's oldest and largest operating cemetery hosted its yearly Memorial Day event.
People gathered at Forest Home Cemetery's Ferry and Clas Chapel Monday morning for a memorial service followed by a wreath-laying ceremony in the Garden of Honor, the cemetery's veteran section.
"People here in Wisconsin, it means a lot to them to pay tribute to veterans and the sacrifices that they've made," said Kevin Ryan, Wisconsin communications director, Team Rubicon. "So as a veteran, it really means a lot to me to see that. It feels good that people haven't forgotten about those people that made those sacrifices, that are buried here."
After Monday's service, attendees got to listen to costumed historical reenactors who told stories about famous people buried at the cemetery, including veterans like Billy Mitchell, who is regarded as the father of the Air Force.
