Former Pius XI High School teacher sentenced to 18 months in prison for sexually assaulting student

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A former Pius XI High School teacher was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being charged with sexually assaulting a student. 

According to a criminal complaint, detectives investigating allegations made against 34-year-old John Anshus learned he would hug female students for long periods of time and move his hands inappropriately, also commenting on students' bodies and attire. 

He's charged with sexually assaulting a student under the age of 18 in April of 2023.

The complaint says Anshus was fired from his position during the investigation.

According to court documents, Anshus pled guilty on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
