Former Waukesha County sheriff's lieutenant sentenced for smuggling contraband to inmate

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis (CBS 58) -- A former Waukesha County sheriff's lieutenant was sentenced to four months in prison for smuggling contraband to an inmate. 

According to the US Department of Justice, 34-year-old Johanna Grace provided marijuana and a cellphone to an inmate of the Waukesha County Jail while serving as a lieutenant, coordinating with associates outside the jail to bring the contraband into the facility. The DOJ says when she realized she'd be caught, Grace shared internal law enforcement reports with those same associates.  

In August of 2023, Grace was charged with abuse of a resident of a penal facility in connection to the death of an inmate.
