MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Crews began vertical construction at the Foxconn site in Mount Pleasant Monday.
The first panel of more than 400 was put into place. Each panel weighs up to 75,000 pounds, is 14 inches thick and up to 48 feet tall.
Crews need two cranes to put the walls in place.
These panels will make up the nearly 1 million square foot manufacturing facility.
Kim Mahoney is watching the construction. Her family refused to sell their property and move to make room for Foxconn. Mahoney says she's still skeptical about the project.
"I expect to see some development occurring over the next 15 months until the election, and then we'll see," she said. "I'm still highly doubtful that it's going to turn into anything close to what they had said they were going to build."
A spokeswoman for Foxconn declined an interview about the construction.
Foxconn says the facility will be up and running in 2020.
